México Azul was born from the firsthand testimony of a man who has witnessed the disappearance of marine life with his own eyes. Since 1987, Guillermo Mendoza—a diver, captain, and underwater photographer—has traveled the world's oceans documenting their beauty… and also their alarming decline. Places that once teemed with life now display silences and absences that are progressing at a rate no one could have imagined. Observing how, in just five decades, we have lost more than 70% of marine life, Guillermo understood that action was necessary.

First through photography, showing the world what cannot be loved if it is unknown. And then, taking a bigger step: creating México Azul, a foundation dedicated to protecting marine life through environmental education, scientific research, and conservation projects.

Our purpose is clear: to connect people emotionally with the ocean and generate real action for its protection. From workshops and training sessions to monitoring and restoration projects and scientific partnerships, México Azul exists to ensure that future generations don't only know sharks, turtles, or coral through photographs, but live, free, and in their ecosystems. México Azul is the union of art, science, and conservation. It was born to recover the bond we all have with the sea and to protect it with the urgency the planet demands.
